I completely agree that location space and displacements are learned. And I am wondering is there a possibility that the mechanism itself is learned (no prior genetics) or finalized (some prior genetics) in humans? Seems like humans are the least “hardcoded” creatures and whatever can be learned is thrown out from genetic code to allow the most adaptability in environment. I know that it is not a common thing to think about mechanisms for location space and displacements in neocortex as learned ones and I myself currenly favor more the genetic approach. But if we were to look from another angle and say that there is a possibility that the mechanisms can be learned and they are learned in the same way in all humans because we have the same inputs and outputs (humans, who are born with pathologies, might be a special case here), is there an evidence to prove this thinking as wrong?
