"Original thought" - fact or fiction?

I have long thought that humans do not have "original thoughts’ as described in the classic sense. (see what I did there?) We seek out novel experiences. That is why we set up experiences to be exposed to new ideas that can be synthesized into “original thoughts.” For example - we have laboratories where we can be exposed to previously un-experienced observations. We listen to new music. We travel to new places to add to our repository of experiences. We read books and watch movies to exper…
