# Pernouncation of NuPIC

Just curious. How do we pronounce NuPIC correctly? Is it (in IPA) “nupɪk” or “njuːpɪk”?

@marty1885 I’m leaning towards “nupɪk”, as “njuːmenta” sounds funny to me.

In the interest of cultivating a peaceful relationship with future AI, wouldn’t the polite thing to do be to ask how NuPIC wants to be pronouced _it_ self?
In the meanwhile, we could ask it’s [granddad](https://simulationcorner.net/index.php?page=sam).
