I’m a research engineer doing autonomous logistic vehicle design and deployment. Like Jeff, I’ve been pursuing creation of machine intelligence since an early age (I was 16, it was 1980, and I was thinking I would be able to write intelligence in BASIC).
HTM is the best match for my own understanding of how thinking works. I am also a fan of Steve Grossberg’s adaptive resonance theory.
