HTM as kind of an Lempel Ziv compression

Hello everybody!

So HTM is a Sequence Memory.
And when a sub sequence repeats a higher macro column will recognize this and represent this sub sequence as a continuous “chunk” and build or recognize a sequence with that chunk.

For instance: 110110001010110
110 repeats, lets say 110 gets represented as “a”
then the sequence in the higher macro column is
aa001010a

Isn’t that what its doing?
That would be some form of Lempel Ziv
Just that “110” in the brain is rewarded in some form, so that we “know” 110 is the relevant sub sequence and not “01” in that same example from above.

It would like to hear your opinion.
