Here’s another paper which might provide some experimental support for this hybrid model, or something very similar to it. In this paper, they are mostly looking at place cells and their activations with respect to the fast and slow gamma cycles.
There is also a summary video of their findings up on YouTube.

I think it takes everyone a different length of time to understand complex concepts and associations behind them. It literally took me 5 years to feel confident to speak about neuroscience in any context, and I still struggle to keep up with research. Having the research meetings online makes it much easier for me. I find myself re-watching some meetings.
