I’m curious to hear if anyone has tried to implement some form of temporal anchoring. This would be similar to the spatial anchoring in a grid cell module that occurs when a column recognizes certain landmarks and a specific set of place cells light up.
Is there a corresponding temporal grid cell module that advances with time? Perhaps our sense of timing is determined by the rate at which certain temporal patterns in the input are detected.
Might such a timing mechanism help with the restart issue that has been discussed elsewhere in the forum?
