Jeff and Donna recently recorded an episode of Recode Decode with Kara Swisher titled “Let’s reverse engineer the brain”. The episode, which is about 40 minutes long, is available on itunes and will be posted on Recode tomorrow (June 27).
Jeff and Donna talk about Numenta, our approach to machine intelligence and how it differs from machine learning, our business model, and the future of machine intelligence. One of the most interesting parts for me was when Kara asked if the human brain is getting better and suggested that if you were to look at events of this year, you might conclude it’s not. Jeff’s response, which poses the question to humanity of how we can embrace more of the new brain (neocortex, intellect) and shed more of the old brain (emotions), is worth a listen.
