I’ve been working on new visualizations to display the known properties of “grid cells”. Here is the current state:
Just posting for fun, might not make sense without an explanation. The skewed rectangles on the bottom are “grid cell modules”. Each on is tiled over the “world”, which is the large top rectangle. As I mouse over the world, I display all the grid cells in the modules that respond to that location in the modules below. I also display the complete “firing field” for each of those grid cells in the world so you can see where they all would fire if I moved the mouse.
When I move the slider up, it affects the percentage of cells firing within each module. Only the top closest cells fire.
