No, the bird is not dead…
Fade to scene where my family is vacationing in Venice Beach, CA...
Outside of a beach-front restaurant, a man and a parrot are sitting in front. The man points to the parrot and says, “Bang! You’re dead!”. The extremely well-trained parrot then keels over and pretends to be dead…
Out of nowhere, my (then 5 year old) son, showing wayyyyyy too little fear, walks over to the man and just grabs the bird from him, and turns around…
Just then, 2 tourists jump up from their tables and start taking pictures, and somehow I mustered up the courage to get close to that thing and pose along with my son (Elijah)…
So that’s why I have the icon of my son holding a dead bird…
