Details on Links and Link Policies

Hello all,

I have some questions regarding links and link policies. They are:

  1. What is the scope of a link policy? What is it responsible for?
  2. Links between regions describe the receptive field. The receptive field granularity describes elements in the source region as either “nodes” or “elements”. What are nodes and elements with respect to an Output object?
  3. The “span” parameter for a link appears to break up the input space into “bunches” which are then perceived by groups of columns and their receptive fields. Could someone explain what the span means more specifically?
  4. Dimensions appear for links often. What do dimensions imply with respect to links?

I’m going through Nupic.Core and documenting the functionality and these are some of the lingering questions. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
