Matt to me was not just a excellent professional but also a great friend! A man that always give motivation to our contributions to community.
Unfortunately all of us Numenta and collaborators loose the main actor who did this community vibrant, shine and wonderful with his participation, funny videos and a lot of the best contributions!
I was deeply shocked when reading this in the work time, it brings me tears, just find no words to express the feeling… He will be forever missed by someone in China. RIP, Matt, hope you enjoy your time in heaven.
The opportunity to know and work with Matt was one of the greatest honors of my life.
He was an example to me of what it means to be alive, human, and a man.
Intelligence poured from him in everything he did.
I’m shattered that he is gone. I will miss him greatly. I owe him a great deal.
My deepest condolences to his family, co-workers, friends, and loved ones.
I look forward to seeing him again in the next life, at Thunderdome.
It’s been several days before I could write something about you, Matt.
Never have I felt so welcome in a community… and this was largely your doing.
The community itself is largely your doing… and for such an online group, the tears are nothing virtual.
I was looking forward to your next stream… when I got hit in the face. It is still incredibly hard to come to terms with it. My kindest thoughts to your close friends and family, may they find the strength…
I realize we were the same age. And as far as friends go, we’ve never been closer than an ocean apart. Yet I’ve always felt I could have called you “buddy”, more than any of my neighbors.
Great idea, and Matt’s wife actually said on twitter that they would appreciate help from the community with this.
I did this over the weekend. Currently have them sitting in S3 but it would be good to find somewhere permanent to index all this content. YouTube don’t seem to delete old videos but difficult to assume that policy will never change.
My condolences to his family and friends, this is heartbreaking for someone so kind, generous and helpful to be lost so suddenly and early. He was an amazingly smart person that had the gift of a dedicated teacher, able to break complex ideas down into something everyone can understand, and with an appreciable dose of humour. Forever calm, kind and patient when helping or working with people, he set an example for us all.
Without his help, code and learning materials, I (and many others) would never have found utility in the tools and theories surrounding HTM. The code he wrote, shared and explained has aided many in creating useful solutions to all sorts of problems including my own PhD work. This is a humbling reminder that we should always express our gratitude for the things people do while they are still around to appreciate it.
While he is tragically gone, may his positive spirit live on in his family, friends, and the code/videos/music/writings he produced.
I’m devastated to hear this news, Matt brought me to Numenta with his wonderful YouTube series and was always a very kind and encouraging person on these forums. He will be greatly missed.
As a university based professor I must say that we are also devastated by Matt’s passing. He had that unique skill of connecting people across all paths of life.
My message has a second objective: we are organizing a big academic conference next week and are planning to have an hour of memories of Matt on May 27 at 4pm EST (7pm pacific). We were hoping to link to the community here. So please contact me (koerding@gmail.com) if you may be able to share your memories for a few minutes.
I am new to HTM as of a few months ago. I recently watched Matt’s HTM school series and have been browsing this forum for insights as I develop my own implementation of HTM. I also recently listened to a couple episodes of the Numenta podcast for the first time. In the little I got to see of Matt’s work, his passion and caring shined through in everything. I obviously never met Matt, but I felt like I was just starting to get to know him. I’m shocked and incredibly saddened to hear of his passing. I just created this account so that I could express my deepest condolences to his family, friends, loved ones and everyone who was touched by his life.
The total size is 114GB as they are high definition. You can either download the full_twitch_archive.zip file in one go, or if you have issues downloading it I’ve also uploaded them in individual months.
I don’t have any plans to delete them in the short term, and I’ll definitely wait until Matt’s family have had a chance to download copies. After a while I may move them to a cheaper storage tier like glacier.
